You're looking at a side-by-side-by-side of Big Apple, Big Banana and Big Orange - the three fruit paintings I recently created in kind of a pop art style.
Individually, they're pretty attention-getting. But when you put them all together with the banana centered between the apple and the orange, they really jump out at you.
Our house doesn't really have the wall space to hang all three of these fruits in the proper setting. Big Apple and Big Orange are each 36" x 36" while Big Banana comes in at 30" x 48". I could easily see them hanging in the break room or cafeteria of some corporation or maybe even adorning the walls of a restaurant. I could just as easily see them hanging in an art gallery - which makes one wonder, if they were hung closer to the ground, would they be, "low hanging fruit"?
Whatever the case, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. But I've also decided that's enough fruit for now. I'm moving back to my more surrealistic and fantasy art ways - at least for the immediate future.
Each one of these fruits offered their own painting challenge. Anytime you create an object that's about 50 times its normal size, you'll run into issues like - is it too detail oriented? Or does it need even more? With all three of the fruits, I reached a point where the painting wasn't necessarily getting better with my improvements - just different.
Once I reach that point, I generally know it's time to move on. There are some artists who take photorealism to the max. I'm not one of them. But I still think they have a great deal of 'pop' to them which I guess is why they call it pop art.
Right now, these paintings are available on my site (http://www.tombloodart.com) as prints (I haven't listed the originals yet). The good thing about prints is that you can order them in a variety of sizes. So if wall space is an issue with you, you might consider getting the Big Three in a not so big size.
I'll also remind you that my website print giveaway is still going on. If you haven't entered yet, here is the link to do so: https://www.tombloodart.com/new-website-giveaway
